Georgian headdress
On December 11, at 7:00 PM, the presentation of the book "Georgian Headscarf" will be held at the Palace of Arts with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Georgia.
The 600-page, bilingual catalog is part of a large-scale scientific project and is the second volume of the publication “Textiles from Georgia”. The encyclopedic work includes the collections of both the Palace of Arts and the Museum of Folk and Applied Arts of the same palace, includes more than 500 high-quality illustrations and tells us about the history of Georgian clothing from the early Middle Ages to the 19th century. The book is accompanied by three atlases of Georgian crowns, hats and graphic forms of weaving.
Within the framework of the project, an exhibition of Georgian historical fabrics and headscarves will be opened along with the book presentation. The exposition will combine fabrics restored by Tinatin Kldiashvili and Ekaterine Geguchadze according to historical frescoes and the unique Georgian ritual crown, which was returned to its original appearance with the support of the Bank of Georgia. As a result of the restoration work carried out by restorers and jewelers over a period of 6 months, the crown is adorned with 48 diamonds, 1 large golden royal topaz, 7 emeralds, 48 rubies, 19 jadeites, 12 turquoises, 8 citrines and 12 rock crystals.
For one day only, the catalog “Georgian Headgear” will be sold at a special price at the event.
