Jemal Chkuaseli - 90
With the support of the Ministry of Culture of Georgia, an exhibition dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Georgian public figure Jemal Chkuaseli has opened at the Art Palace – Museum of Cultural History.
The exhibition presents unique family photo and video materials of the outstanding choirmaster and artist, as well as costumes created for the ensemble “Erisioni” by sculptor and painter Merab Berdzenishvili.
Guests were also introduced to a unique audio archive published with the support of the “Georgian Chant” Foundation, which includes nearly one hundred of the finest Georgian vocal works performed by the ensemble “Erisioni” from the 1980s to the present day.
The opening of the exhibition was attended by the Minister of Culture of Georgia, Tinatin Rukhadze.
In her address, the Minister of Culture spoke about Jemal Chkuaseli’s great contribution to the preservation of Georgian folklore.
“‘Erisioni’ has been serving this cause for more than 100 years and continues the finest traditions. This polyphony is not just music; it is an inseparable part of our unity, our statehood, and our culture — our calling card. Thank you, ‘Erisioni.’ We love you and place our trust in you. Through his life’s work, Jemal Chkuaseli served the greatest cause, and we have no right not to preserve this legacy for future generations,” Tinatin Rukhadze stated.
The exhibition will continue to the Dadiani Palace in Zugdidi in July.
