Soliko Virsaladze
On December 3, at 18:00, the Georgian Palace of Arts will host a presentation of a bilingual catalog depicting the work of the great Georgian artist and scenographer, recognized as the “Grand Master of the Symphony of Colors,” Soliko Virsaladze.
In the Hall of White Nymphs of the Palace, along with the presentation of the catalog, national costumes created by Soliko Virsaladze, preserved in the Museum’s Art Collection, will be specially exhibited for the general public.
It is noteworthy that in independent Georgia there has never been a full-fledged catalog of Soliko Virsaladze's work. The vast majority of the artist's works preserved in the Palace of Arts are being made available to the general public for the first time, which not only gives the publication its scientific and educational function, but also makes it exclusive.
The catalog was prepared with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Georgia and is the VII volume of the large-scale project "Theatre and Cinema Artists" series launched by the Palace of Arts in 2015. The series includes the versatile work of Ioseb Sumbatashvili (Volume I, 2015), Ivane Askurava (Volume II, 2016), Karlo Kukuladze (Volume III, 2016), Petre Otskheli (Volume IV, 2017), Koka Ignatov (Volume V, 2018), Nikoloz Kazbegi (Volume VI, 2018).
The volumes already published present theatrical and film sketches kept in the Palace of Arts and various museums of the country, as well as in private collections.
The creative team of the Palace of Arts would like to thank Nino Sukhishvili and Manana Khidasheli for the unbiased reproduction of Soliko Virsaladze’s outstanding works from their own collection for inclusion in the publication.
