On July 28 at 6:00 PM, a bust of the renowned musician, choral conductor, and advocate of Georgian folk music, Anzor Erkomaishvili (1940–2021), will be unveiled in the Garden of the Immortals at the Art Palace of Georgia. Sculptor Gia Japaridze created the bust.

Anzor Erkomaishvili founded the ensembles “Rustavi” and “Martve.” Since 1972, he collected and restored more than 500 historical recordings of Georgian folk songs, and in 2001 he established the International Centre for Georgian Folk Song.

His outstanding contribution to Georgian culture was recognized with the State Prize of Georgia, the Shota Rustaveli State Prize, and the Presidential Order of Excellence.
